PUBLIC RELATIONS
Most recently, I served as the PR Coordinator for Reagin Orthodontics in Summerville, SC. I led public relations and marketing efforts for the office. I developed strategies for media placement, relationship-building with referring doctors, community event participation and advertising.
As a Speech Communication major with a Broadcasting emphasis, I opted to pursue my elective communication courses in Public Relations, essentially creating my own PR minor.
Through the years, I have exercised my PR skills in a variety of community service endeavors.
While living in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, I served on the Board of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children, a non-profit guardian ad litem program. As Community Relations Chair, I co-launched the first ever “Serving Justice” Fundraiser and “Friendraiser” event. This included pre-event publicity and post-event follow up. For the event, I interviewed CASA children and volunteers, produced and executed vignettes and highlighted the successes and needs of CASA.
As a news anchor in Harrisburg, PA, I conceived and executed a post Haiti-Earthquake outreach, transforming our station lobby into a drop-off location for Mennonite Central Committee disaster relief kits. This included the production of news stories and promo pieces leading up to the event, coordination of resources and procedures, intense morning to night collection and organization of post-collection deliveries. I surpassed my 50 kit goal and collected 200 disaster relief kits.
